When it comes to designing for any baseball-themed project, it’s essential to choose that “home run” font that conveys the sport’s buzz and nostalgia we all know and love.
Luckily for you, Canva and baseball go together like graham and ‘mallow (Anyone, anyone?). Just take a look at these trading card logos if you don’t believe me.

To achieve that America’s Pastime feeling, it’s best to consider using classic fonts that draw inspiration from vintage jerseys, old baseball posters, and classic movies like, well, “The Sandlot.”
Fonts like Graduate, Lobster, Modak, and more are great options for baseball designs thanks to their bold and strong appearance that oozes nostalgia and captures the essence of the sport’s rich history.
Graduate
First, Graduate font isn’t only one of Canva’s best collegiate font options, but it’s also a classic and versatile sports font that can be an excellent option for something like high school baseball-themed designs. Its bold and block-like appearance makes it a perfect fit for athletics and is easily legible – even from a distance – making it a great choice for jerseys, banners, and other projects where readability is essential.
It’s a classic and retro style that evokes a sense of nostalgia, excitement, and school pride.
Mervale Script
Mervale Script is a calligraphy font that offers a unique style for baseball-themed designs. While not a traditional baseball font, I think it can be a great option for creating shirts, jerseys, and other related projects.
The font in general offers elegant, flowing curves that naturally give off a feeling of summer, warmth, and relaxation that capture the spirit of the season. Perhaps best for playful rec league communications and social media posts?
Lobster
I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Lobster, but when it comes to baseball, it works! In contrast to the elegant and flowing style of Mervale Script, Lobster’s bold appearance can evoke a sense of fun, energy, and playfulness, while being a little more formal.
Racings Sans One
Racing Sans One is another one that wouldn’t traditionally be used in a baseball design but can create a unique and modern look. The font’s bold and sleek appearance can add a sense of speed and movement to, (which appeals to my love for Rickey Henderson) and can thus be a great fit for designs that want to convey a sense of excitement and energy.
One advantage of using Racing Sans One in baseball designs is its legibility, even at smaller sizes, making it a practical option for creating digital designs, such as social media posts and online advertisements.
Pacifico
Pacifico is a casual and hand-drawn script font that can work well here because it has a playful and whimsical feel. Its informal, laid-back style can help to capture the fun and relaxed nature of the game.
The font’s flowing curves and bouncy baseline can give a sense of movement and energy, which can help to capture the excitement and dynamism of baseball. It’s also, simply, approachable and friendly.
Modak
Modak font is a funky and playful typeface that can add a touch of retro 70s style to baseball designs. The font’s bold and curvy appearance can provide a sense of grooviness and fun, making it a great fit for projects that want to convey – again – a sense of nostalgia and “the way it once was.”
One of the benefits of using Modak font in baseball designs is its ability to create a throwback look that can capture the feeling of the sport during the 70s.
Barlow Semi-Condensed
Barlow Semi-Condensed is a modern, sans-serif font that has a condensed look, making it perfect for creating bold and dynamic designs.
You can experiment with different sizes and colors to create a unique and impactful look. Consider using Barlow Semi Condensed for your main text, and pairing it with a smaller bold choice or script font for any secondary text or accents.
Bangers
I mean, perhaps the best-named font for a baseball project? Like, if it were “whiffers” I’d stay away, but “Bangers” isn’t only a great baseball font, but a great baseball or softball team name to boot!
The font is a fun and playful font that can add a sense of energy and excitement to baseball designs. Its bold and cartoonish appearance can make it a nice option for creating social media posts, posters, and flyers.
